2019 – 2020 Boxing Predictions!

2019 – 2020 Boxing Predictions!

In boxing it’s hard to predict what will happen with all the most recent events, for example Joshua v Ruiz, Ruiz beat Joshua in an massive upset that no one noticed, Fury v Wilder, Fury beat all the odds and managed to almost do one of the best comebacks in boxing history. One of the hardest sports to predict the outcome of. One punch could knock someone down and no one will have expected it. 2019 boxing predictions!

Anthony Joshua to beat Andy Ruiz Jr.

Start off with one of the biggest fights near the end of the year in Saudi Arabia. The first fight wasn’t to good for Joshua, looking like he couldn’t be bothered to perform and didn’t want to be there.

Round 1 will be Joshua and Ruiz seeing what each other are about and will be wanting to land a few body shots and right hooks to see if they can tire them out straight off the bat.

As we know, Ruiz doesn’t look like he’s in great shape, however in boxing that doesn’t matter. Ruiz will be able to go the distance and will be able to go the whole 12 rounds if Joshua doesn’t knock him down at all, like we saw in their first fight.

In my opinion, both fighters will go down to the canvas again, however in the 6th round Joshua will pick up the win via TKO, Ruiz to go down twice in that round and Joshua to claim his belts back. The only other option is the fight will go the distance and Joshua to reclaim his belts via split decision. All and all, Joshua, to me, will win back his belts.

Fight happens on the 7th December 2019.

Joshua vs Ruiz for the WBO, WBA, IBO and IBF titles

GGG to fight Canelo after IBF win!

This is one of the most talked about fights in the history of fights, if these two fighters will ever have a third bout. Canelo beat GGG in the second bout and drew the first.

GGG has been given a chance to win back a title that he lost to Canelo, in his bout against Sergiy Derevyanchenko on October 6th, however he mainly wants to fight Canelo and Canelo wants to fight the winner of the IBF title.

Both GGG and Canelo haven’t been put down once in their careers, however this bout between these two would most likely go the distance and will break box office records.

Since the fight between GGG and Derevyanchenko isn’t until October 5th, the fight between these two could happen in the second or third month of 2020. In my opinion, the third bout will be different, GGG will retain his title in another draw between the two fighters, both fighters are currently the best in the division and GGG has proven that he still has what it takes.

GGG to draw with Canelo when they fight early 2020, if this fight happens.

Canelo vs Daniel Jacobs for the IBF title

Lomachenko to beat Campbell for the Vacant WBC title.

One of the fights that is soon to come, Lomachenko vs Campbell on the 31st August 2019. Lomachenko’s first fight was for the WBO international featherweight title which he won; however, he has already got two of the 4 major titles and is looking to unify the division.

If we look at Lomachenko’s stats in all his sports, Pro boxing, Amateur boxing and World Series Boxing, he has an incredible record of 101 wins, with 27 via KO and only 2 losses!

If we look at Campbells stats in all sports, Pro boxing and Amateur boxer only, he has 28 wins, 16 via KO and 4 losses.

In my opinion, Lomachenko will go the distance with Campbell and win via unanimous decision, due to Campbell not losing via KO as of yet and has the went the distance a few times.

Tyson Fury to win the WBC title.

On the 1st December 2018, Tyson Fury managed to make a huge comeback and nearly beat the unbeaten champion Deontay Wilder in his home turf in the US. A lot of fans believe that Fury won the fight and did enough to win the bout.

This fight became one of the most controversial bouts of all time. A draw between them shouldn’t have happened, however the WBC board have ordered these two to fight again and Fury has said it’ll happen in 2020.

In my opinion, Fury will easily pick up the win and do the same as what he did against Wilder last time. He moved around the ring and didn’t go for the knockout until the last round which almost cost him the draw. So, Fury will beat Wilder in his home turf, like he did to Klitschko back in 2015.

Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury

These are some of the predictions I think will happen in boxing, more will be on the way, when more bouts and more information comes out.
