What Happened to Jeff Hardy?

Jeff Hardy is one of the most decorated WWE, TNA, and AEW wrestler. He was one of the most popular WWE stars of all time and winning so many amazing titles with his brother and by himself, however what happened to Jeff Hardy throughout his career?

The Start of Jeff Hardy’s career!

Lets go back to the start of Jeff Hardy’s career. He started his career in 1994. From what we know, Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy was earning a small amount for each show they were on but they had to pay their coach 75% of their wage or more.

This meant that they were left with less that they should have had. After leaving there coach, they became one of the best Tag Teams in sports entertainment history.

Climbing up the ladder and being involved in one of the best matches of all time, the triple threat ladder match with the Dudley Boys and the team of Edge and Christen.

Jeff Hardy was getting most of the attention throughout his wrestling career. As he was inspiring a lot of fans to become a WWE superstar.

Jeff Hardy’s Single Career and the downfall!

After the Hardy Boys broke off into single careers, Jeff Hardy was known as the superstar of the two, the way he dressed and more was making him into a global icon at the WWE.

In 2001, Jeff Hardy ended up facing off against Triple H for the intercontinental Championship and managed to win with some help from his brother.

Even managing to perform incredible against the Undertaker in a ladder match for the Undisputed WWE championship.

He was on the way to becoming one of the biggest stars in WWE history, however things took a huge turn for the worse for the young talent.

Due to his schedule, the wear and tear of his body and more, he got addicted to drugs and drinking which meant his performances started to suffer badly and getting mixed reactions from the crowd and WWE superstars.

After a certain pay-per-view event, Survivor Series to be exact in 2002, the WWE found out and offered Jeff Hardy to go to drug rehab. He refused to go.

It was described as a terrible drug addiction, which meant that Jeff Hardy had two options with the WWE. Either leave or go to Rehab. Jeff Hardy was later released from the WWE in 2003.

After WWE, where did he go?

He ended up joining ROH but had a terrible reaction from the crowd and left wrestling all together before re-joining wrestling but going to TNA where things began looking up.

Until 2005, where he was fined for not attending the pay-per-view event that he was meant to be at. This was not related to Drugs or Drinking that anyone knows about.

TNA later suspended Jeff Hardy due to him missing turning point, another pay-per-view event that Hardy was meant to appear in.

In 2006 however, TNA decided to let the man go and that would be him being released for the second time.

WWE decided to give him another shot.

August 4th, 2006, he resigned with the WWE and re-joined his brother Matt Hardy and won the intercontinental championship again! He was back to re-establishing himself.

He was one of the most popular superstar once again in the WWE and this was looking up for him, until he violated the wellness policy again, however Jeff Hardy stated that this was due to injury. The WWE ended up suspending him as this was just a coverup.

After he returned, the WWE put him back into the top role as they believed in the man, as he was still considered one of the most popular WWE stars in the ring.

Triple H and him were the top two. Other than Randy Orton. This all went bad after he did another violation as he was meant to win the Money in the Bank when CM Punk won.

He was given another 60 day suspension and on returning after his house set on fire, he was put back to the top of the ladder once again.

He continued his rivalry with Triple H and continued to try and win the WWE championship.

After another claim of him using substances and being unconscious in his room. He captured the WWE title in a triple threat match and this would have been the turning point in his career.

Jeff Hardy was seeming fine and ended up losing the title and was put instantly into another World Title match which meant he beat the rated R superstar yet again.

CM Punk then cashed the money in the bank contract in and beat Jeff Hardy for the title and this started a storyline where his issues came into the picture.

WWE Feud with CM Punk!

This rivalry started a massive storyline with both competitors with Punk constantly using the issues Jeff Hardy had against him and this made an incredible match up.

Jeff vs Punk, steel cage match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The loser would leave WWE.

Jeff Lost and in turn left the WWE. This was going to be another storyline where he left and then came back, however his contract was coming to an end and he actually left the company.

He didn’t resign. This was due to his wrestling style and he left due to this. He had neck issues and more. He wanted to recover from this issues and come back.

Issues outside of Wrestling!

Jeff Hardy was arrested a number of times due to being intoxicated, overdose on drugs and many more throughout his time out of the WWE.

His home was raided with him being arrested yet again and he had class A drugs throughout the time he was out of the WWE.

When his home was raided, it was estimated that the street value of his drugs were £2.5!

Went to jail for 10 days and in 2010, he returned to TNA.

After WWE he went to TNA!

TNA pushed him as one of their top stars and even let him win the biggest title in TNA.

While this was happening, CM Punk mocked Jeff Hardy’s arrest and mocked him on the most recent episode at the time on WWE. Jeff Hardy believed that he made CM Punk a star.

Things went off the rail in 2010! Jeff was pulled from the pay-per-view due to his behaviour, however he managed to stay into the match and much more reports were coming in saying Hardy was drunk.

2011… Jeff Hardy vs Sting. This match was the career ending match for the talented Jeff Hardy. The match was for the TNA world heavyweight championship and against one of the biggest stars in TNA.

Sting knew something was wrong as Jeff was stumbling and more so they had to think of something.

Sting ended up winning the match in 88 seconds and the fans were not happy with this and he was suspended from TNA due to this.

He regained everything after losing everything once again. He was consistent and proving that once again he is the top performer in TNA, this lasted a long time with Jeff Hardy showing he is willing to compete.

WWE resigned the star!

In 2017, Matt and Jeff Hardy resigned with the WWE to capture the WWE tag team titles and things were looking good for the wrestler.

Nothing much came from this as he later went out of control yet again and was back to going to substance abuse and more.
