A Scottish private island has gone up for sale recently, and the list price is the same price as a London flat.

It’s only accessible by boat.

Inchconnachan is an island that no one currently lives on, and is located at Loch Lomond, a place popular with tourists. With a list price of £500,000, I can’t see it being on the market for very long.

You can only get there by boat, and no one has lived there for around 20 years now. The last inhabitant was Fiona Gore, the Countess of Arran, who used it as her holiday home.

She was known as the fastest women who travelled at speed on water, setting a record of 102mph in a powerboat back in 1980.

The island has stunning scenery.

The old house is obviously not too nice to look at currently, but worry not as architects have had permission to re design the whole living area on the island.

The wildlife on the island would certainly keep you company; perfect if you’re an animal lover. You’re near a tourist and nature hot spot, surrounded by wildlife, fells and water. There are deer, otter, and many other animals there, which really make the area what it is.

But just in case it’s too far away from civilisation for you, like the title suggests, you could always get a nice 1 bedroom flat in London for around the same price.

London or a Loch?

Talking about the land, Cameron Ewer for Savills said: “This is an extraordinary opportunity to acquire a beautiful and completely private, yet accessible, retreat and create a wonderful new residence there.

“For those seeking peace and seclusion, yet wanting all that this part of Scotland has to offer in the way of nature and water-based sport and activities, this is surely the ultimate prize.”

Tom Stewart-Moore for Knight Frank also said he was “confident that the island would gain a lot of interest.”

He added: “To be able to build your own house on your own private island but yet in a very accessible and beautiful part of the country will be a dream for many and is likely to have global appeal.”
