Peace talks aimed at ending nearly four years of civil war in Yemen have finally started, and although they probably won’t end the hostilities outright they may prevent an all-out battle for the rebel-held Red Sea port of Hudaydah. This would be a humanitarian disaster given many thousands of civilians are trapped there. In a war where it is hard to pick the good guy anything which averts further civilian casualties os welcome and hopefully it will allow desperately needed aid to get to those in need.
