Pub chain wetherspoons has announced that it will be extending its price cuts on food, even though the governments Eat Out To Help Out scheme has ended.

Spoons across the country have been packed recently.

Just like the governments scheme, the prices will be in effect from Monday to Wednesday, and this will run until the 11th of November.

Their new scheme will have effect on food and drinks such as burgers, pizza and desserts, with mini desserts being only 99p.

Food is cheap as it is at Wetherspoons – so these extended cuts will make for a few cheap meals out. Another great example of the price reductions is with the Margherita pizza; you can a large one and a drink for £3.99! That’s probably cheaper than buying and cooking your own!

Wetherspoon boss Tim Martin said: “The government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme was extremely popular with our customers and a great boost to the hospitality industry.

“We are keen to offer our customers a superb choice of food and drink at great value for money prices.

“Our offer means that a classic beef burger in our pubs will be even better value than McDonald’s.

More than 70% of surveyed brits took at advantage of the government scheme during August, with many wishing it was extended longer. Many were also reportedly very happy with the prices offered to them.

Tim continued: “The classic burger in Wetherspoon is £3.99 versus McDonald’s Big Mac medium meal (comprising Big Mac two 1.6-ounce beef patties, medium fries, medium Coca-Cola Zero Sugar) which costs £4.59.

“In addition, cappuccino in our pubs will be 50p cheaper than McDonald’s and our customers can have free refills too.>

“Our prices are also lower than Domino’s Pizza for an 11-inch pizza.

The only real differences between the new scheme wetherspoons has in place compared to the one that ran in August is that they set their own prices, and the government aren’t giving them any money for the reduction this time. Because if you remember last month, businesses who were a part of the scheme could claim back the 50% reduction they applied to meals from the government – hence why so many places were part of it.
