UN Vote Fails To Condemn Hamas

To some surprise, an American proposed resolution condemning Hamas has failed to pass at the UN General Assembly failing to reach the required two-thirds backing.

Overall the voting was 87 to 57, with 33 choosing to abstain. The reason this is surprising is that it was a condemnation on Hamas for firing rockets into Israel often at civilian targets.

One can only assume that this is more a backlash against President Trump’s foreign policy than a vote in favour of what would be classed as terrorism anywhere else. Neither side is without fault in this conflict but condoning attacks on civilians as 90 voters chose is never the right thing to do.
