The number of people who have sadly died in the past 24 hours in the UK has risen by 213.

The number continues to fall slowly, and the numbers include 185 in UK hospitals, 12 in Scotland across all settings and Wales and Northern Ireland reported another 14 and 2, respectively, across all settings.

These figures were released along side reports that officials were already finding themselves with problems regarding the NHS’ new track and trace system.

Some MP’s claim that the app won’t be fully functional until next month, and some staff testing and trying to use the app, have had problems logging on.

Worldwide, there are almost 6 million cases now, after only hitting the 5 million mark a week or two ago. The USA still has the most cases worldwide, accounting for almost 1/3 of all cases on the planet, which Trump says credits their testing system.

The country has tragically surpassed 100,000 deaths since the virus outbreak, leading some to believe that the US government didn’t do enough to combat the spread.

China, where the pandemic is believed to have originated, has only confirmed new 2 cases of the disease today, compared to 4,500 in the USA.

The death rate varies from country to country, possibly due to how deaths are recorded. But even though it’s a great challenge working out the real death rate during an ongoing pandemic, a solid number would be useful to have, as the claimed 3.4% is disputed.

Things seem to be slowing up in a lot of countries, including our own, the UK, but at around 50,000 new cases word wide daily, the total number of confirmed cases is expected to hit 6 million in the coming days.
