Dominic Raab has suggested that the lockdown isn’t to be relaxed yet as the UK stays at home for another 3 weeks.

We’re currently on week 3 of the lockdown in the UK.

It’s said that he will announce on Thursday that the lockdown will stay in place until at least May 7, as he is still working in the place of Boris Johnson as he recovers from Coronavirus.

It’s widely agreed that people should remain at home for the time being, but senior minister are torn on whether to let people go back to work, as health and economic stress starts to mount.

Professor Linda Bauld, of the University of Edinburgh, also warned that support for the lockdown measures by UK citizens “won’t last” as the “social, economic and health effects of the lockdown are accumulating”. “There will come a tipping point when the cost of the current restrictions outweighs the benefits,” she said.

She added: “Sooner rather than later, government needs to share the possible options with the public and be transparent about the costs and benefits of each, rather than evading questions of this, as is currently the case.”

Whilst everyone is eager to get back to a normal life, it probably won’t be that black and white. Especially because scientists advise that relaxing restrictions is a gradual thing; closely monitored. It’s safe to say life may never be the same again for everyone, and we can all learn a lot from this pandemic, about hygiene, the economy, where we’ve gone wrong, and what we’ve done right.
