On Sunday, 17,272 coronavirus cases were reported along with 231 related deaths.

However, as of yesterday, Monday the 7th, cases and covid-19 related deaths have fallen again with 14,718 coronavirus cases and 189 related deaths being recorded.

Despite cases falling from this weekend, they’re still higher than they were this time last week, where figures showed 12,330 new cases were recorded.

This bring the total number of cases (past and present) in the UK to 1,737,960, and the number of people who died within 28 days of a positive test to 61,434 in total.

Out of the 14,718, England residents made up around 11,623 of these cases, whilst Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland accounted for 677, 2,021, and 397, respectively.

Alongside these figures, news has came that people in their 80s and over in the UK are finally being vaccinated, and will continue to be for the foreseeable future.

Research was also carried out recently which illustrates a little bit of what people think about life now a vaccine is here.

A large amount of people asked by Sky News thinks that once the vaccine becomes available to everyone, not taking it should result in you not being able to fly internationally. Further questions also showed that up to 11% of people asked, and who answered honestly, said they would start disregarding social distancing guidelines once the vaccine is available to everyone.
