Eurostar has been saying for a while how they’re going to be allowing travellers to board a train in London and end up in Amsterdam for a very reasonable price.

Eurostar was founded in 1994.

But this looks like it’s finally happening… well, soon anyways.

There has been a route from London to Amsterdam since 2018, but travellers have had to stop in Belgium for security checks – meaning there is no direct route.

But now, UK Border Force officials will now be stationed in Amsterdam and Rotterdam to carry out all the formalities that used to be carried out in Brussels.

Tickets do the city will cost a very reasonable £40 each way and will go on sale from 1 September.

Unfortunately, this announcement comes at a bad time for Eurostar, because they might not see loads of business for a while yet. The Netherlands has recently been added to the list of countries from which you have to quarantine on your arrival back home to the UK. This has stopped many people going to similar places with similar rules. But for those unbothered by the 14 wait upon your arrival home, Eurostar has assured passengers that the trains are regularly deep cleaned.

When speaking about the good this new route will bring to both countries, Home Secretary Priti Patel said the new arrangements will make it easier than ever for passengers to travel between the UK and Amsterdam.

“This important treaty shows that while we have left the European Union, our links with Europe are stronger than ever,” she said.

“It will enable vital security and immigration checks to be carried out in the Netherlands, protecting the UK’s border and providing faster and more efficient journeys for passengers.”
