A group of 20 South African Teenagers have taken part in an impressive aviation achievement flying from South Africa to Egypt in a self-assembled Sling 4 Kit plane. The 12,000 KM (7,455 mile) flight involved refuelling stops in Namibia, Malawi, Ethiopia, Zanzibar, Tanzania and Uganda before eventually reaching their destination in Cairo.

The journey went with surprisingly few hitches with only a lack of fuel in Ethiopia and a problem with one of their avionic systems on the final leg causing concerns. The latter nearly got the pilots arrested as they were forced to land at a smaller regional Cairo airport rather than the international, where they were not expected.

Still, all ended well and hopefully, they will achieve their goal of motivating young Africans across the continent.
