Uganda: Corruption Knows No Bounds Stealing From The Sick

Uganda has a terrible reputation for corruption – currently ranking 149 out of the 180 countries covered in Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index. However new lows are being sunk to with prescription medicines intended to be given free and destined for the poorest allegedly being stolen. These are being sold on the black market by criminal gangs and in many cases, the Health Care workers tasked with helping the communities are complicit. A dreadful state of affairs leaving many local health care centres and sometimes even Hospitals unable to treat the sick. Sadly this is not unusual for Sub Saharan Africa.  You can watch the BBC video exposing this below.
