Noel Gallagher, former singer/songwriter for the band oasis, has been a lifelong Manchester City fan.

Liverpool: 2019/20 champions.

He’s often seen at city matches, and talks about the team a lot – it’s clear he’s an avid fan of the blues.

However, some not so optimistic words about Liverpool’s 2019/20 campaign have now come back to haunt him.

Liverpool guided by manager Jurgen Klopp have recently been crowned champions of England – their 19th league title, and their first premier league title.

But back in August, Gallagher declared: “I think City will win four titles in a row”.

“I can’t see anyone getting anywhere near us next season. Liverpool had the greatest season in their entire life and they still came second – it’s too funny!

“I don’t think Liverpool will get near us. I don’t think anybody does. As long as Guardiola stays we will win the league every year.”

However, the last laugh is with Liverpool and their fans as City are currently 23 points behind champions Liverpool, after losing to Chelsea last night.

Gallagher also told Sky Sports at the time: “If you were to ask me if you would rather win the Premier League or Champions League? The Premier League every single time. It’s the benchmark of greatness,” seemingly having a dig at Liverpool for having great Europe success but not much league success in recent years.

But, in Noels defence, he did admit last month that the league should be cancelled due to Coronavirus, and Liverpool were worthy champions, and should be automatically crowned.

Despite Liverpool just winning the league, some bookies have odds in the favour of Manchester City winning next season. I guess we’ll have to see if Liverpool can do the double over other teams, or another top England team can re claim the title.
