Scotland have broken a new record but not one that should be there. The NHS staff were extremely busy one day and that resulted in a massive wait time in A&E. There was over 3000 patients waiting to be seen to and the wait time was over what you would expect it to be. 3,553 patients waited over 8 hours to be seen to.
Stats show that the week ending with the 9th of Octobers, there were 3,000+ patients waiting an approximately 8 hours before being seen to. With an extra 1000+ waiting for 12 hours.
Health Secretary Humza Yousaf said Covid-19 continued to impact performance.
The number of people going to A&E in Scotland has seemingly went down as figures show that. The Scottish government are trying to target 95% of patients attending A&E are seen to and discharged in a few hours.
But for the second week in a row that percentage was 64.2%.
“The latest shocking figures show the highest ever number of people who had to wait over eight hours, and another week where over 1,500 patients waited over half a day in our emergency departments. This is nothing short of a scandal.” Public health spokeswoman Tess White said
