Apple has done everyone a solid in the upcoming iOS update.

A new option will allow you to “silence unknown callers”. Meaning, you won’t get prank calls from people trying to hide their number, or as many people telling you you’ve been mis-sold PPI. You can sign up to various things such as do not call registries and opt out of services, but it still didn’t eliminate the possibility of getting a call that says “unknown caller” on your screen.

The new option uses “Siri intelligence” to block unknown callers and spammers from getting through. The feature will only allow numbers that from your contacts, your mail, and messages to ring you. All other callers will be sent to your voicemail, where all but the most determined of spammers will usually give up and hang up the phone.

he new update introduces a new dark mode, which may sound familiar to you if you use apps such as Twitter and Facebook Messenger. It’s basically a new colour scheme designed to be easier on your eyes in low-light environments. But lets be honest, that’s rarely why anyone ever used dark modes. Depending on the app, they tend to look better than the standard, and change is good.

When it is released later this year, you will also be able to connect to a new WiFi network without having to navigate your way through the settings menu. Instead, if you do a long press on the WiFi symbol in the control centre menu, available networks will display themselves, which is much easier.

If this all sound to exciting to wait for, there is a beta version available to the public.
