McDonalds breakfasts are returning to 42 different stores around the UK, as lockdown measures ease even more.

The chain has to ensure it’s safe to do so before giving the breakfast menu to all stores.

The phased return of the breakfast menu will start on the 24th of June, the chain has confirmed. The 42 branches of McDonald’s which will be serving breakfast will obviously be changing their hours from their current ones, so people can get their breakfast at a good time.

CEO Paul Pomroy confirmed the reopening in an email to customers from the UK and Ireland, saying:

“As with our main menu, we will have a limited menu at breakfast but we’ve kept the classics – hash browns, McMuffins and pancakes all return.

“Unfortunately, whilst adhering to social distancing guidelines, we are unable to serve porridge, bagels and our Breakfast Wrap.

“This is because we have fewer people in the kitchen.”

I’m sure the justification on the chains part for why there is a limited menu is unnecessary, as people understand the current situation and are probably just grateful they get even some of the breakfast menu back sometime soon.

There were a small number of trial restaurants near the start of June which were the first to reopen, a number in the 40s just like the amount of restaurants open in Wednesday for breakfast, so that suggests this isn’t official yet, and it’s just another trial phase near the headquarters, to see if it’s safe an efficient to reopen earlier on in the day. In the coming weeks we should expect many more restaurants to open across the UK and Ireland for breakfast, and scrapping the hours they’ve been working too recently. This is provided that the trails go successfully, and employees can work safely on the breakfast menu.
