A man in China who was abducted as a toddler over 3 decades ago, has been reunited with his birth parents.

Reunited.

All the way back in 1988, Mao Yin, now in his mid 30’s, was taken by kidnappers whilst he was travelling home from nursery with his father.

Not long after he was taken, his mother left her job and started searching for her son herself, and joined groups that assist finding missing children, helping over 20 missing people return home to their families with her police reports.

Now it was time for her happy ending, as a police tip off about a past paid adoption led police to investigate, and eventually Moa Yins DNA was matched to his police profile. After 30 long years, he ran towards his mother on Monday, as they gave eachother a big hug.

His mother told the press who were present: “I would like to thank tens of thousands of people who have helped us.”

Amazingly, the kidnapped man had no idea he was involved in such a wide scale search, and he had even been re named before he was found. He was located over 350 miles away from where he was initially born. Police are still investigating why he was kidnapped, though, as many similar cases remain unsolved, and police want to stop further heartbreak for families.

Those present described it as a moving moment.

As for Mao, he said: “To be honest, I’m not quite sure about the future yet.”

But, for now he is going to stay with his parents for a while, before returning to his home in the Sichuan, where he runs an interior design business.
