Brazils New President Jair Bolsonaro has wasted no time in stirring up controversy by vowing to move their Embassy from its current location in Tel-Aviv to  Jerusalem, the status of which remains a bone of contention between Israel and the Palestinians. The USA & Guatemala have already made this move, however other countries have been more diplomatic, especially given that Israeli sovereignty over Jerusalem has never been recognised internationally.

Although there are around 200,000 Israeli Jews living in East Jerusalem their presence is considered illegal under International Law and this remains the main stumbling block in regional peace talks.

It was no surprise that the Trump administration chose to disregard international condemnation following there move earlier this year, but its unclear as to why Brazil has taken this step, other than for potential economic gain, which seems to be something close to the new Presidents heart.
