In another weekend of intense fighting, at least four Israelis and 25 Palestinians have been killed. The violence erupted on Friday triggered by a protest against the blockade of Gaza. In the ensuing action around 690 rockets were fired into southern Israel, which led to retaliatory air strikes against suspected Islamic Jihad and Hamas targets. Of the 25 Palestinians killed only 7 are thought to be members of the Jihadist groups leaving 18 civilians dead. Just as reprehensibly though the missiles fired into Israel were all aimed indiscriminately destroying houses and deliberately killing civilians.
Thankfully a cease-fire appears to be in place and hopefully, a lasting solution can be found to this tragic tit for tat conflict.
