A diamond ring that once belonged to a women who has been missing in Australia since 1982 could have clues to her disappearance.  Police released images of the ring as investigators prepare to launch a forensic excavation at the Walgett property where Roxlyn Bowie was last seen 37 years ago.

During their search at the home and yard experts determined that a patch of ground beside the house required further examination. They found a silver ring with the letter “R” on it and police are hopeful that it brings new light to the investigation. Alongside the ring, police found a surgical scalpel blade packaging. The ring will be investigated for blood traces and police believe she died on or shortly after the day she went missing

Roxlyn Bowie was 31 when she was reported missing after she left the home she shared with her husband and two children on June 5th 1982.  She never returned home and her body was never found.

Police have launched a new investigation into her disappearance and suspected murder. Detectives and forensic investigators searched the Walgett property and used Luminol which is a chemical test that detects blood. Police have said the ring will undergo further testing.

NSW Police detective Superintendent Danny Doherty said: “The support from the community in our pursuit to locate Roxlyn Bowie and piece together her last movements has been very beneficial,”

“We’re hoping this assistance can continue as we are keen to speak with anyone who has more information about these items.”

He hoped that anyone with information regarding the ring will come forward.

There is a $1 million reward for anyone who has information which leads to a discovery of her body or the arrest of the killer.

On the night of her disappearance she had gotten into an argument with her husband which she said she was leaving him with the kids and not to find her as she would never go back. Mr Bowie denied any involvement in her disappearance.
