Jeremy Corbyn, the previous leader of the Labour party, has been suspended.

LADBible PA.

He has been suspended under investigation over antisemitism, something that came up a lot when he was running for PM too.

This comes as a report regarding behaviours and comments made by Corbyn, in relation to antisemitism, was released recently.

He has also had his whip removed, and it’s not clear what will happen next. We’ll just have to wait for the results of the party’s investigation.

A Labour Party spokesperson said in a statement: “In light of his comments made today and his failure to retract them subsequently, the Labour Party has suspended Jeremy Corbyn pending investigation.

“He has also had the whip removed from the Parliamentary Labour Party.”

To be more specific, Corbyn has made some comments SINCE the report that he has failed to retract, leaving the party no choice but to suspend him. The current labour leader has also dodged the question of if he will get be punished, and how, so it’s not entirely clear if he will be disciplined directly by the party.

But, Starmer did say “I am not the problem”.

He continued: “If after all the pain, all the grief, and all the evidence in this report, there are still those who think there’s no problem with antisemitism in the Labour Party – that it’s all exaggerated, or a factional attack – then, frankly, you are part of the problem too. And you should be nowhere near the Labour Party either.”

Starmer took over from Corbyn around half a year ago, not long after Boris Johnson was voted in as PM.

When asked himself if he should resign, Corbyn told media: “Of course not,

“I’m proud to be a member of the Labour Party. I joined the party at the age of 16.

“I’ve fought racism all my life and I will fight racism for the rest of my life, and as leader of the party I did everything I could to ensure we were an anti-racist party.”
