The historic tourist area in Blackpool caught alight last night, with the fires causing lots of damage.

No one is believed to be injured.
Firefighters were fighting the blaze early this morning, after 10 fire trucks were sent to the scene at 3am, Lancashire fire and rescue service said.
It’s said that the fire started around the middle of the pier, and involved a workshop and a ride. It then spread quickly to other parts of the pier, causing even more damage.
Incident commander Mark Winder said: “Fortunately early firefighter action has extinguished the fire to the extent there is no visible flame.”
Before Mark and his team arrived on the scene, locals said they could see the colours of the flames in the sky, and see the incident unfolding from very far away. The roads near the pier were closed for around 2 hours, but they’re believed to be back open now.
The exact cause of the fire is currently unknown, but they’re currently investigating the possible causes of the fire, to try and possibly prevent such disasters in the future.

This isn’t the first time the pier has experienced damage, though. Back in 2013, storms damaged the pier, causing upset in the locals, but, since its construction in 1863, it has held up pretty well considering the age of it, and the wear it’s endured of the years.
