Banned Driver Flips Car, Killing Pedestrian

A banned driver in the UK was being chased by police before he crashed the vehicle he was driving, hitting a pedestrian in the process.

The victim was sadly hit at around 5:30pm last night, and sadly died due to the crash, where a criminal fleeing in a Peugeot 307 lost control of the vehicle.

The incident happened in West Yorkshire near Leeds, after the driver was signalled to pull over by police, but instead put his foot down which led to a chase being initiated. And sadly, as shown above, it ended with the driver crashing, and hitting a person. The 22 year old driver is now being held in custody with suspicion of death by dangerous driving being one of the charges. The man reportedly didn’t know he’d hit a pedestrian until he was told.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson stated: “At 5:18pm police officers in a marked roads policing vehicle signalled for a Peugeot 307 to stop in East Ardsley.

“The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit began.

“A short time later the Peugeot and a male pedestrian on Leeds Road, Outwood were in collision.

“The male pedestrian died as a result at the scene. The driver of the vehicle suffered what are believed to be minor injuries.

“A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

“Leeds Road is currently closed in Wakefield from Canal Lane to Broad Meadows as enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.

“Any witnesses to the incident are asked to call police on 101 quoting log 1253 of Tuesday, June 9.

“Due to the nature of the incident a mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.”
