A man who robbed a bank with a banana has been jailed for a year and 2 months.

Laurence Vonderdell plead guilty to possessing an imitation firearm.
Dorset Police said Laurence Vonderdell entered the bank and approached one of the tills on the morning of 25 March, with a covered banana in a plastic bag (trying to disguise it as a gun), pointing it at the female banker demanding she gives him cash. He managed to escape with £1,100 in cash but he handed himself in shortly afterwards. Vonderdell admitted robbery and possessing an imitation firearm at an earlier hearing at Bournemouth Crown Court. He told the cashier: “This is a stick up, give me the cash,” before walking out.
Det Con Andy Hale said: “Even though the defendant handed himself in shortly after this incident and the cash was recovered, this must still have been a very distressing incident for the cashier involved.”
