An 18 -year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder a man who won a police bravery award in 2009.

MET POLICE

Abraham Badru was gunned down on Ferncliff Road, Dalston on 25th March. Abraham was a personal trainer who won a bravery award for preventing a woman being gang raped, he was found with a gunshot to the chest.

There is a £20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of his killer.

Moments after the shooting a black male was believed to be wearing a black Puffa-type jacket made off from the scene on foot, before getting on a bicycle; he had rucksack on his back. The bicycle is described as white and didn’t have any lights.

The police timeline:

Saturday, 24th March:

  • 22:00 to 00:00hrs: Abraham was at Restaurant Ours in Chelsea at a birthday meal. It is believed that Abraham was in the company of about nine or 10 other friends.

Sunday, 25th March:

  • 00:00hrs: Abraham travelled in convoy with others in vehicles to a nightclub at the Arbor Hotel, E1. He remained in the venue until about 0:10hrs. He spent the night with a woman.
  • 16:00hrs: Abraham travelled to Brent Cross Shopping Centre where he remained until 17:30hrs.
  • 18:00hrs: Abraham went to his father’s address.
  • 21:10hrs: Abraham ordered and collected food from 805 Restaurant, NW4.
  • 21:40 to 22:15hrs: Abraham remained at his father’s address.
  • 22:20 to 22:40hrs: Abraham visited a woman before travelling home. During the journey home he had a phone call with a woman lasting 44 minutes.
  • 23:11hrs: Abraham was fatally shot while he was still on the phone.

Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh, said: “We are keen to trace each and every person who was in the area that night – even if you think you didn’t see or hear anything, we need to eliminate you from our inquiries. It may be you have information you don’t think is relevant but please let us be the judge and come forward. I would rather get the same information 40 times, than for that critical call to not be made.

“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw a male cycling in the area around the time of the murder on a white bicycle – this could be the killer.

“But we also have a significant number of gaps in the jigsaw of what is known about Abraham himself. For instance, we believe Abraham had a number of girlfriends and we are keen to know who they were. It is possible that he may have been seeing someone who was in another relationship, and I’m appealing for anyone with this sort of information to contact me.

“Did Abraham confide in you about his worries? Did you notice any change in his behaviour? I know that this could be tricky, but I assure you we are solely interested in piecing together Abraham’s life.

“I think that there is an assumption in the community that someone else will make that call. Clearly that hasn’t happened and I need your call. Abraham’s mother is in so much pain, not only with the loss of her son, but the silence from those who could help catch his killer is ripping her apart.

“Every day, Abraham’s family have to live knowing that the person who did this is still out there. Someone knows who killed Abraham; I have said the answer lies in the community and I still believe that.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the incident room on 020 8785 8099, via 101 or @MetCC. Alternatively, to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
