A poll taken by LADBible has found that 74.9% of people (who took part in the survey) thought people should be made to wear face masks.

This comes as many people in the UK are expecting the government to make such a move, after they‘ve hinted at it, and said they’re looking at evidence.

The Scottish first minister has made face masks compulsory in stores already, and the rule went into effect on July 10th. They have also given police the power to fine people £60 for not obeying the rules.

Media outlet LADBible posted a poll on twitter asking if they should be made mandatory, and well, the results speak for themselves.

Over 9900 people of the 13,475 who voted on the poll said people should be made to wear face masks, which is interesting to say the least. I personally didn’t think so many people thought they were such a necessity when out and about in shops; I barely see them anymore.

But obviously more people want them to be made mandatory than you think, and as mentioned before, the Scottish first minister has already done that. Announcing the move, she said: “We have proceeded for a period with a voluntary approach to this.

“Some people are complying and some are not, I’m not pointing fingers or trying to blame people for that but we have to make a judgement if we’re heading into a period where more people are interacting. And we’ve been having a discussion with more sectors like retail about reducing distancing, and that increases the importance of mitigations like face coverings.”

The mayor of London sees this as the “right” move too, with other MPs and the prime minister growing ever more fond of face masks, and their proven benefits.

Sadiq Khan added: “This is the right move by Nicola Sturgeon. The evidence in support of wearing face coverings in enclosed public spaces is clear – we need them to be mandatory in England too.

“Londoners: wearing a face covering in shops will protect others and help slow the spread.

The UK is set to follow suit, with new developments possibly being announced today.
