The line up for the 2019 World Series Divisional Round is now set, and Tampa Bay Rays & Washington Nationals both secured their place with differing styles of win. In the NL Wild card game, Washington looked down and out against the Brewers, but three runs in the bottom of the eighth saw them take the lead and with Milwake blanking in the top of the ninth they had the luxury of a walk-off win.  The Brewers will wonder how this happened, and you have to feel a bit sorry for both reliever Josh Harder who appeared to forget where the strike zone was, and Trent Grisham, who’s error probably sealed the loss.

The Nationals Finally Get Over The Hump

So the Nationals finally have a postseason series win and move on to play the Dodgers in the divisional round, They made hard work of it and will have to up their game if they are going to progress further.

More Heartbreak for Oakland

Oakland lost their third Wild card Appearance in a row thanks in no small part to the decision to start Sean Manaea, who had only 4 starts all season since returning from injury.  Why manager Bob Melvin decided to bypass the experienced Mike Fiers will remain a mystery, just as was last seasons decision to effectively start the game with the Bullpen. Anyway, the game was as good as over in the first inning and by the second when Manaea was mercifully pulled off he had given three home runs!

Charlie Morton pitched five innings for the Rays and never needed to be anywhere his best with that sort of cushion. Tamps now face The Houston Astros in the Divisional round, where they won’t find the opposing pitchers so generous.
