The 2022 Baseball season is just about to get underway and below are our predicted finishing orders for the American League divisions. With Four Wild Cards teams this year it is possible that four AL East Teams could make the post Season.
AL East Predictions
This looks like being the most hotly contested in the whole of MLB in 2022 and you can make a case for any of the teams apart from the Orioles. The Blue Jays lost Robbie Ray in free agency but might have actually improved their rotation with their free-agency signings.
Adding Kevin Gausman and Yusei Kikuchi fills out an impressive rotation headed by Jose Berrios and with a lineup featuring Vladimir Guerrero Jr. they are justifiable bookies’ favourites. They also added one of baseball’s most underrated defensive players in Matt Chapman!
The Rays probably have the best pitching crew and scored a lot of runs last year although losing Nelson Cruz might put a bit of a dent in this. They won’t have another 100-win season, however, they should get to 90 which might be enough to win the division.
The Yankees will push these two close and should be in one of the Wild Card positions while the Red Sox look good enough to join them.
Team | Wins | Losses |
Toronto Blue Jays | 90 | 72 |
Tampa Bay Rays | 90 | 72 |
New York Yankees | 88 | 74 |
Boston Red Sox | 86 | 76 |
Baltimore Orioles | 61 | 101 |
AL West Predictions
The Astros have been near perennial contenders and made the World Series again last year. There is little doubt that they will be competing again this year. They are stacked at every position and have added Justin Verlander to an already formidable pitching rotation. He might not be the force of old, however, he adds depth which will be crucial as injuries occur.
The Angels & Mariners should fight out second place and one of them could sneak into the postseason. The Rangers are still a year or two away, while the Athletics have torn it down again!
Team | Wins | Losses |
Houston Astros | 95 | 67 |
Los Angeles Angels | 85 | 79 |
Seattle Mariners | 82 | 80 |
Texas Rangers | 76 | 86 |
Oakland Athletics | 68 | 94 |
AL Central Predictions
The White Sox are the most likely winners in 2022 especially if Luis Robert has fully recovered. They have a great pitching rotation and All-Star talent through the lineup. The acquisition of Kendall Graveman and Joe Kelly has beefed up their reliever corp and Josh Harrison looks like a nice pick up too.
Tigers fans have had a tough few years but they will have room for optimism going forward and they should have a winning season at least. Similarly, the Twins look capable of hovering around the playoff places. Minnesota has the batting prowess but doesn’t look strong enough all around to seriously challenge the White Sox.
The newly named Guardians have had a quiet offseason and look to have stood still at best while the Tigers & Twins have improved.
The Royals need an overhaul and 100 losses are easily within reach.
Team | Wins | Losses |
Chicago White Sox | 90 | 72 |
Detroit Tigers | 84 | 76 |
Minnesota Twins | 82 | 80 |
Cleveland Guardians | 71 | 91 |
Kansas City Royals | 64 | 98 |
