2021 World Series Wild Card Round Rex Sox & Dodgers Through

The 2021 World Series Divisional rounds are now set with Boston & The Dodgers both winning their Wild Card games.  Both were playing at home and in the case of the LA Dodgers justice was served as they had the second-best record in Baseball with 106 wins, but still had to face the lottery of a one-game playoff.

LA Dodgers Prevail

The Dodgers had to overcome a shaky start after starting pitcher Max Sherzer threw a wild pitch to give up an opening innings run. Still, that was his only bad play in his 4.1 innings and they levelled things up in the fourth to set up an exciting finish. The game literally went down to the last pitch as Chris Taylor gained the walk-off win with a Two-run homer in the bottom of the 9th with two outs. The Cardinals played their part in an entertaining game but never really looked like adding to their opener.

Boston Red Sox v NY Yankees

The Boston Red Sox had an easier time of it against the NY Yankees. They were 2-0 up after the first and the Yankees starting pitched Geriat Cole only lasted 1.1 innings before being pulled. The rest of the pitching staff fared a little better abut another run in the third left NY with a mountain to climb and after the Red Sox went 6-1 up in the seventh it was all over.

Final Score

NY Yankees 2 Boston Red Sox 6

Next Up

The Boston Redsox will now face another divisional opponent as they take on Tampa Bay in the ALD Round, while The Dodgers will also face a divisional rival. They were only a game back on the Giants in the regular season so this should be a cracking series.
