The Milwaukee Brewers held on for what might end up being a crucial win in the opening game of the NLCS against the Dodgers. A well below par outing from Dodgers star pitcher Clayton Kershaw (he recorded a 12.0 ERA!!) laid the foundations for them taking a 6-1 lead, however, LA came storming back to make it a tense 9th inning especially when they pulled it back to 6-5.
Although the Brewers did most of the damage in the 3rd & 4th Innings it would be a little unfair to lay the loss wholly at Kershaws feet, as the defense was hapless too, giving up 4 errors
Players of the game:
Josh Harder – threw 3 shutout innings & Brandon (Woody) Woodruff who will long remember the game as he not only got credited with the Win as pitcher, but also hit a Home Run – not something you see every day.
Takeaway:
The Brewers got lucky in this one benefitting from a near unprecedented opening pitching disaster and the Dodgers rarely give up 4 errors. Everything went their way and they only just scraped a win in their own stadium. This is 12 wins in a row will game 13 be unlucky?
