Scottish Premier League Roundup

There was little change at the top of the Scottish Premier League this week with Celtic maintaining a six-point lead over Rangers. Aberdeen who now has ex-Kilmarnock loanee Greg Stewart playing for them has moved into third place, while Hearts have managed to close the gap on Kilmarnock. St Johnstone who remains in sixth will be pleased to see the back of Celtic having lost twice to them last week both times 2-0.

It remains tight at the bottom with Hamilton currently just outside the relegation zone, but only three points separate them from bottom club St Mirren, with Dundee currently second bottom.

The result of the week just goes to Hearts who somehow managed to hold on for a narrow 21 win at Kilmarnock in a fairly bad-tempered game which had five bookings and 31 fouls. Kilmarnock is badly missing the creative flair of Greg Stewart and despite dominating possession couldn’t find an equaliser.

Aberdeen, who only played two league fixtures in January also had a notable come-from-behind win at managerless Hibernian. All three goals came in the opening 22 minutes after which Aberdeen dominated possession without looking likely to add to the total.

There is a full card this Wednesday night with the pick of the games being Aberdeen versus Rangers, which could see the Dons go second with a win.
