5 cruelty-free beauty brands

Cruelty-free means that no animals have been hurt or killed when a product is tested. Many beauty brands over the years have joined to completely stop animal testing and make their products vegan or vegetarian. 80% of countries have no laws around animal testing, most of the testing on animals will cause them harm or distress. The use of animals to test cosmetics or ingredients is banned in the UK but in the United States this is not the case.

Here are some of the many beauty brands that are all about no animal testing.

The Body Shop

Body Shop

The Body Shop are hugely against animal testing. All their products are not testing on animals, they even sell a range of products to help spread the world and donate £1 for every purchase. Altogether they have 8 million signatures for their campaign against animal testing, the petition has closed currently as they are using the number of signatures to put a ban on animal testing. It was in 1989 when the Body Shop started campaigning to end animal testing in the cosmetics and they were the first global cosmetics company to do it.

Real Techniques 

Real Techniques

Real Techniques is a makeup brush/tools company that launched in 2011. They are known for their brushes in particular. The brand has confirmed that they do not test on animals during the production of their products and do not sell in places that animal testing is required by law. Real Techniques are not certified by any official cruelty-free organisation, but this does not mean they are use animal testing. The brand is 100% against it and are not owned by a parent company that tests on animals. All their products are 100% vegan and none contain animal ingredients.

Cover FX

Cover FX

Cover FX is a makeup brand that creates high performing formulas that is popular with a lot of beauty influencers and professionals. They have confirmed that they do not test on animals and are PETA approved; as well as this all products are vegan. They are not parented by any company that tests on animals, no products contain animal ingredients.

Lush

Lush

Lush is 100% against animal testing, you will see this throughout their shop and on their packaging. They have a campaign called ‘Fighting Animal Testing’, they have no products of materials that contain animal derivatives. They are also have some vegetarian and vegan products but they are not 100%. Lush believe that animal testing is not acceptable and have been this way since the start. On the 24th of April 2012, Lush brought animal testing back to the public eye to spread awareness of why it should be banned.

Too Faced

Too Faced

Too Faced is another one to add to the list of cruelty-free makeup. The founders are very much animal lovers so there is no way their products were going to be tested on animals. They are certified by the PETA, although they are parented by a company that tests products on animals but Too Faced do not believe in testing on animals so they will not do it.
