The Complete List of ‘Carry On’ Films

 The films that make up the ‘Carry On’ franchise.

The ‘Carry On’ films were a unique set of slapstick style comedies, made in the UK between 1958 and 1992, albeit the final film was made after a 14 years hiatus. The films were all scripted in a similar style, albeit in different settings, instantly identifiable by the humourous bawdy dialogue which was peppered with innuendos and double entendres.

Some would no doubt regard all the films as being total rubbish, as well as being seriously politically incorrect. And by the cinematic standards and social norms of today, it would be difficult to defend the indefensible. However, if you’re like me, a big fan of the silly, rambunctious viewings that were the ‘Carry On’ films, then here’s a complete list of the movies that make up the franchise:

 

The complete list of ‘Carry On’ movies, 1958 – 1992

  1. Carry On, Sergeant (1958) — National Service training gone wrong!
  2. Carry On Nurse (1959) — Hospital farce!
  3. Carry On Teacher (1959) — Goodbye, Mr Chips rework – only less sentiment and a lot more laughs!
  4. Carry On Constable (1960) — A Police Force lark to more than rival the Keystone Cops.
  5. Carry On Regardless (1961) — Temporary Employment Agency setting – with the predicable chaos and mayhem!
  6. Carry On Cruising (1962) — Cruise Ship jaunt!
  7. Carry On Cabby (1963) — Taxicab company and a battle of the sexes escapade.
  8. Carry On Jack (1963) — Chaotic Royal Navy romp set in the time of Nelson, with a parody of ‘Mutiny on the Bounty’ thrown in!
  9. Carry On Spying (1964) — A send-up of the British 1960s spy films, especially James Bond!
  10. Carry On Cleo (1964) — A new twist on Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra. Add in Julius Caesar!
  11. Carry On Cowboy (1965) — The Wild West as never seen before!
  12. Carry On Screaming! (1966) —  A send-up of Horror movies, especially the Hammer Horror franchise.
  13. Don’t Lose Your Head (1966) — The Scarlet Pimpernel/French Revolution given a makeover like no other!
  14. Follow That Camel! (1967) — A French Foreign Legion romp with a rewriting of Beau Geste
  15. Carry On Doctor (1967) — More hospital buffoonery!
  16. Carry On Up the Khyber (1968) — A adventure through the Khyber Pass never experienced during The Raj.
  17. Carry On Camping (1969) — Camping trip goes horribly wrong!
  18. Carry On Again, Doctor (1969) — Yet more hospital horseplay!
  19. Carry On Up the Jungle (1970) — African Exploration, with Tarzan and jungle shenanigans t
  20. Carry On Loving (1970) — Computer dating agency capers never likely to be experienced on ‘Love Island’!
  21. Carry On Henry (1971) — Henry VIII and the Tudor period given the full ‘carry on’ treatment.
  22. Carry On at Your Convenience (1971) — Capers at toilet factory and trade union workings.
  23. Carry On Matron (1972) — More silly hospital drama!
  24. Carry On Abroad (1972) — Package tour holiday escapade – definitely not 18 – 30s!
  25. Carry On Girls (1973) — A beauty contest like no other!
  26. Carry On Dick (1974) — Dick Turpin and the Cavalier years are given a new spin.
  27. Carry On Behind (1975) — Archaeologists and holidaymakers clash at a caravan site in a humorous jape.
  28. Carry On England (1976) — Set in World War II – another military jaunt!
  29. That’s Carry On! (1977) — Clip Show with footage from most of the ‘Carry On’ movies.
  30. Carry On Emmannuelle (1978) — A parody of the soft porn french film ‘Emmanuelle’ with widely different outcomes.
  31. Carry On Columbus (1992) — A fresh take on the adventures of Christopher Columbus.
