The bullet Ant is one of the largest ants found in the amazon basin, one record it has one the of the worlds most painful stings, and it one of the worse insects to ever be stung by. The Ant gets it name for its powerful sting as it literally stings with the pain of a bullet.
It can grow up to 2.5 cm long half the size of a human thumb, it can let of a strong warning odour when threatened. This ant also has very large mandibles which it uses to latch onto victims and keep a very strong grip on them. It inject venom into you which is 30 times more painful than a bee sting. The venom attacks nerve functions.
You can find these ants in the central and South America and down Southern Brazil. They live in large groups up-to 3,000 bullet ants. The pain from a bullet ant sting can last 10, 12 or 36 hours. Unfortunately there has been no anti venom made to help the sting but it is not able to kill you, but it just long and intense pain.
Tribe however use the ants a ritual they knock the ants unconscious in a herbal form then wove them into gloves. Boy from the age of 12 will put these on if they can withstand the pain of ants once they woken up they’ve proven themselves to be a warriors and are ready to take on responsibility of adulthood.
