Over the weekend, boxing had some of there best fighter put to the test, Katie Taylor and Dillian Whyte to be exact. Whyte was fighting Povetkin for his chance at the WBC world heavyweight championship, however things didn’t go to plan for him.
Whyte knocked Povetkin down in the early stages of the fight and this looked like he was going to win the fight through out and maybe even by knockout. Anthony Joshua was ringside watching the fight unfold as Whyte was winning on every scorecard. It was seeming like Whyte was going to be the overall winner by round 5, but then everything changed.
Round 5 was the round Whyte wishes he could go back to. Winning the round until Povetkin hits Whyte with an uppercut that stops the fight almost immediately. Whyte was knocked out on the canvas as Povetkin was named the winner of the contest.
New WBC world heavyweight champion contender is Alexander Povetkin! There has been rumours of another fight between these two as Whyte wants to use his rematch clause already.
