Usyk Pulls Out of Fight!

Oleksandr Usyk, the cruiserweight champion of the world, will have to wait for his heavyweight debut due to him sustaining an injury during one of his training sessions. The reason for him missing out on his first heavyweight debut is because he tore his right bicep! With this happening, he may either have to reschedule the fight against Carlos Takam on May 25th, or he will have to cancel that fight and try and find another fighter to fight when he has recovered! Now that the fight against Takam isn’t going to happen, what’s going to happen to DAZN Streamed card event?

The former cruiserweight will hope to recover quickly since he is very keen on fighting in the heavyweight division and trying to get a fight against Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder! Usyk could be the next big boxer in the heavyweight division, however we will have to wait and see if he shins in that division now! With Usyk out of the equation, Matchroom boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has said he wants the event to still go on, hoping that the lightweight Devin Haney takes the main event!

The fight with Takam was going to be a dangerous 12 round bout that could decide if Usyk was going to be good enough to stay in the heavyweight division! Takam has been up against the likes of Alexander Povetkin, Joseph Parker and Dereck Chisora. This could have determined everything for Usyk. Takam even went up against Joshua in 2017 but got knocked out in the 10th round! Usyk has set aside his plans for now and will think about his future of this sport once he has recovered!
