Top 3 Moments of 2019… So Far!

Already, 2019 has been an eventful year of boxing, we have seen the best and the worst out of some of the best fighters and some new ones rise to the top of the division with ease! The rest of 2019 will be eventful with a few more huge fights coming up and potentially one of the biggest coming up this year, and we are not on about Fury v Wilder 2! We still have a few months left of this month and we could still see a huge impact in boxing but so far these are the 3 moments of 2019!

Andy Ruiz Jr with the Biggest Upset in Boxing History!

Andy Ruiz Jr was the underdog in the Anthony Joshua v Andy Ruiz Jr fight, many fans and fighters thought Ruiz was going to lose within a round or maybe even seconds, however, Andy Ruiz Jr pulled off the biggest upset ever. Knocking out the unbeaten champion in the 7th round and securing the titles and becoming the first ever Mexican heavyweight champion. Fans believed that Joshua wasn’t himself that fight, however Joshua denies all claims. There will be a rematch coming up in the future, however there hasn’t been a set date or where the event will be.

“J Rock” Williams Beating Jarrett Hurd!

11th May 2019, we saw Jarrett Hurd lose his winning streak in an upset unanimous decision. Jarrett Hurd was the favourite in this fight and was named the winner before the fight even started, however Julian Williams knew what to do and managed to win this toe to toe fight in style, even knocking down the champion in the second round. Jarrett Hurd will be wanting a rematch to see if he can beat the new champion Williams the second time round. If they allow him to!

Canelo v Jacobs: The Biggest Event!

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs Daniel “Miracle Man” Jacobs was named one of the best and biggest event this year… so far anyway. Canelo has a huge fight deal with DAZN, 11 fight, $365 million contract to leave Pay Per View and deliver big fights and subscriptions to streaming services. His second fight on May 4th was the biggest possible fight at the time and this fight was huge for both fighters, the winner won the unified middleweight championship of the world. Canelo won this fight by unanimous decision!
