Tony Bellew Retires!

Tony Bellew Retires!

After an 8-round thriller, Tony Bellew decided it was time to hang up the gloves and retire! He decided to do this due to him losing to the Unified Cruiserweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk. A lot of people, including myself, thought Tony didn’t have a chance because he’s mixed with both the Cruiserweight and Heavyweight divisions, meaning he had to lose a lot of weight to get into this fight. This resorted in him not being as strong as he once was, therefore losing the fight. Tony has an incredible career being a part of both divisions and being considered as one of the best boxers when he was at his peak! Who knows, maybe he’ll come back and try again, I don’t think he will, but you never know! Usyk showed great respect at the end of the fight, as soon as the bell sounded, he went straight to Bellew and gave him a hand to the corner. Great respect shown! Tony’s career is far from being one of the worst! He has had one of the best Careers by far!

Tony Bellew’s Boxing Record!
Tony Bellew has been boxing on a global stage since 2007. Started boxing professionally on the 10th June 2007, he has managed to get a decent and respectable record! 30 wins and 20 of them being by knockout! with only 3 loses and 1 draw. He has beaten the likes of David Hayes, not once but twice, LLunga Makabu and Mateusz Masternak! He has been fighting for 11 years and won a lot of major championships along the way, however one thing stopped him from winning more… his weight! He was never low enough to go into Cruiserweight and never big enough to go into Heavyweight, so he had to try his best to get the weight that was required to fight! He has fought against some of the best in the Cruiserweight division and one of the best in the Heavyweight division! He has said he will most likely not return to the sport, but you never know nowadays, big names like Klitschko and Tyson Fury came back after saying they retired! So, he might still make a return!

Bellew’s Greatest ever Achievement!
Bellew’s greatest achievement is when he went up against the LLunga Makabu at Goodison Park in Liverpool. Why is this his greatest achievement? This is the stadium that his favourite football team, Everton, plays and was given the World Boxing Council Cruiserweight Championship! LLunga Makabu was undefeated until he went up against Bellew! Bellew knocked him out to claim the title in his home town and at the stadium he has dreamed of fighting in! Alongside this, he has beaten went into the Heavyweight division to fight David Hayes and beat him… Twice! He will always remember these two moments of his career because these two moments were by far the best moments of his career!

Has Tony Bellew had one of the best careers?
