Andy Ruiz Jr will be remembered, not because of him winning the unified world heavyweight championship, many fighters that have won this has been forgotten about, he will be remembered as the only man that caused one of the biggest upsets in the world of boxing, as much as he would want to be known as the best man in boxing, he will always have that on his back. A great TKO victory over Joshua and now sparked another bout between the two on December 7th in Saudi Arabia. As Eddie Hearn said in the first press conference, this will be a historic night not just for Joshua and Ruiz, but for boxing in general.
Since the victory, Ruiz has had countless interviews with TV presenters such as Jimmy Kimmel, had a victory parade in his hometown in California and spent a lot of his winnings from the fight, he bought a new house and a Rolls Royce. All after the one major fight he’s had, now his has the titles, there is a lot of responsibilities he must take on as a champion and become the best champion he can be.
On Wednesday, Ruiz said he will be getting back to business and back to training in his camp for the rematch that is set on December 7th. This will be in the soon to be constructed 16,000 seated outdoor arena in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. A lot of fans will still say Anthony Joshua will win the bout, however if Ruiz won the first fight with only a month’s training, will he be able to be better in this fight since he will have a full camp instead of only a month? Guess only time will tell. “A lot of people [are] saying that I’m that I’m not training, that I’m not taking it serious, but come on. I got all these belts. There’s a lot of responsibilities to this.” said Ruiz at the Press Conference in Saudi Arabia.
