On the 18th May 2019, we could be seeing the Cruiserweight Champion of the World Oleksandr Usyk fighting his first heavyweight bout against Alexandra Povetkin. This hasn’t been confirmed as of yet, however there has been some rumours going around of this fight happening. This matchup could be taking place in Chicago. Povetkin is the closest fighter Usyk could get that has had a fight with Anthony Joshua. Usyk wants to make an impact in the Heavyweight Division and wants to become the Unified Cruiserweight and Heavyweight Champion of the World. This would be a huge achievement. Oleksandr Usyk has beaten Tony Bellew who infamously beat David Hayes, one of the best heavyweights in the world, so he most likely will be one of the best in the Heavyweight division, maybe better than Deontay Wilder!
Povetkin is one of the best Heavyweights in the Division and could have been the best if he managed to beat Anthony Joshua, however as we saw, Joshua knocked out Povetkin in the 7th Round. If Usyk manages to knockout Povetkin in any round under 7, then he may have a chance of beating the English powerhouse. If this fight does end up happening, Povetkin may have the advantage because he has been in the ring with one of the best fighters in the world and almost knocked him out early on, as Usyk has only fought Tony Bellew and knocked him out in the 7th round. Usyk has had 16 fights with 16 wins, as Povetkin has had 36 fights, 34 wins and 2 losses, however them two losses were against the two best heavyweights in the world. If this fight does happen, who will win?
