Some boxers work hard and long to get a chance at the world titles, some go through many years of training, many months of camps and many months of pain and suffering just to get one title fight. 9.9/10 of the time, the fighter will have to prove himself in the main stage before evening having a chance at a world title… Not Pete Rademacher! Other fighters like; Floyd Mayweather jr, Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Canelo all had to prove themselves before being able to fight a world champion. Pete Rademacher didn’t!

Pete Rademacher was born on the 20th November 1928 in Tieton Washington, USA. He got given a chance that not many other fighters would have got. He started boxing in 1957 and his first fight was for a world title! 22nd August 1957, Pete Rademacher went up against world heavyweight titlist Floyd Patterson in a 15-round contest. Before this contest even happened, Pete Rademacher was the Olympic Heavyweight gold medallist, and this was his first professional fight! The fight didn’t go well for Pete.

Pete was down 6 times throughout the fight! Patterson was knocked down twice in round 2. Floyd Patterson won the bout in the 6th round via KO. Pete had an opportunity of a lifetime to win the world title in his first fight, however he blew it! Pete went on to fight 22 more fights in his career, however he was never given another title throughout his career. His record was 15 wins, with 8 via the way of KO, 7 losses, with 6 via KO and 1 draw! He retired from boxing in 1962.
