New WBC World Lightweight Champion…

After 12 rounds of boxing, Vasiliy Lomachenko is one step closer to unifying the lightweight division, he managed to win the WBC world lightweight championship and retain his WBA and WBO world lightweight championships against Luke Campbell in his own backyard at the O2 Arena! A lot of fans thought that he was going to win but some had doubts that Campbell could pick the win if he used his reach advantage, however the fight ended as a unanimous decision towards the Ukrainian boxer Lomachenko!

Luke Campbell seemed to be in top form at the start of the bout, he seemed to show his reach towards Lomachenko and he couldn’t get through the jab and couldn’t get any hits off, however as the fight went on, Luke Campbells plans were easily found out as Lomachenko found a way to get through the jab and Campbell didn’t change his strategy at all throughout the fight so it was easy for Lomachenko to figure him out and be able to get inside and fight the way he wanted to fight. Great champion and hard to fight. The real question is…. what’s next for the Ukrainian fighter? He wants to unify the division, but which title will he go for next?

“Loma is up there with Muhammad Ali, Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard, Floyd Mayweather, Oscar De La Hoya, Manny Pacquiao. He belongs with those fighters,” said Top Rank promoter Bob Arum! Lomachenko will be going for another belt, he currently needs the IBF and IBO world lightweight titles then he will have unified the division and will have completed what he set out to do in the first place. He is an amazing fighter and will be able to do it if he has the passion to do so like in his previous fights!
