GGG Wins Vacant Titles!

GGG Wins Vacant Titles!

Saturday, 5th October 2019 was the day Gennady Golovkin went up against Sergiy Derevyanchenko for the IBF and IBO world middleweight championships, both titles were vacant at the time, one via Canelo not finding a fight in time. The fight could have been a fight of the year contender. The fight went the whole distance, the whole 12 rounds were used, however the fight went completely different to how other fans would of thought. No one thought GGG and Derevyanchenko to go to the final round, however it did, and the fight was extremely close after all.

GGG came to the fight prepared and he knew what he had to do to win the fight and win the whole 12 rounds, however he didn’t go to knockout Derevyanchenko, he went for the points win… Even though Derevyanchenko did go down in the 1st round, he did manage to get up and continued to almost beat GGG, nearly the second man to almost beat the best middleweight fighter in the division, however now that GGG is the new IBF and IBO champion… what’s next for him?

GGG does want to fight Canelo, he has said it in the past and has fought him in the past, Canelo is one of the best fighters int he world right now and is considered the best lbs for lbs boxer in the world, however GGG believes that he can beat Canelo in the third fight. If there is a third fight, there should be but right now Canelo is going up against the light heavyweight champion Kovalev so, this fight may not be happening soon or even this year as of now, but maybe in the future!
