George Groves to Retire!

George Groves has had an incredible career, a lot of his fans say he’s had one of the best careers in Boxing. Yes, he did lose 4 fights but that’s besides the point. he went up against some world class fighters in his time and managed to have a great career. He will be remembered as one of the iconic names that went to Wembley and stole the show! Fought the likes of Carl Froch, Jamie Cox and Fedor Chudinov. He was one of Britain’s star fighters. He held the WBC, WBA and the IBO world super middleweight championships, he had a successful career! In his retiring statement he said, “I believe I have been good for boxing” Which he has done. A lot of fans will miss Groves but let’s take a look back at his career!

George Groves was born on the 26th March 1998 in Hammersmith, London, UK. Starting his professional boxing career in 2008, Groves didn’t disappoint. Winning his first fight on points against Kiril Psonko. He carried on performing however and won 15 out of 18 more fights via TKO, however on the 23rd November 2013, he went up against Carl Froch and unfortunately lost via TKO. Then fought Carl again on the 31st May 2014 and lost via TKO again… However, he kept fighting and kept at it and now currently has 28 wins and 20 via KO and only 4 loses with 3 via KO. This is one of the best records in boxing history! He will remain at the top and will be remember as an Icon!
