Every year ESPN pick a fighter that has been in top form all year round, last year Oleksandr Usyk was the winner of the fighter of the year for his amazing performance and winning all the cruiserweight titles in a short amount of time and winning the Muhammad Ali trophy. The winner this time has proven to be one of the best fighters in the world and has been named the number 1 pound for pound fighter in the world. He has stayed in his division and went up to the light heavyweight division and won a title straight away!

The winner of the fighter of the year is… Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, currently the best pound for pound fighter in the world. Canelo use to be a middleweight fighter and decided to go up into the light heavyweight division to fight Kovalev for the WBO light heavyweight title and win that as well… He truly is a great fighter and deserves the recognition. He is one of the best fighters in the world and will be remembered as one of the best fighters like Floyd Mayweather.

The next fight could be against GGG or against Callum Smith, GGG would gain more popularity and will gain more viewership rather than Callum Smith since he isn’t the man everyone wants him to fight. Canelo will be hoping to beat GGG and Callum Smith and win more titles as he goes towards his retirement. He will always be known as the Mexican powerhouse and will be the best fighter for some time.
