One of the biggest welterweight fights is about to take place, currently there are 5 different world champions in this division, Terrence Crawford holds the WBO title, Shawn Potter holds the WBC title, Sebatian Formella holds the IBO, Errol Spence Jr holds the IBF and Manny Pacquiao holds the WBA. In a lot of cases in boxing, one fighter will take time to try and unify the division and become the unified champion of the world, currently Andy Ruiz is the closes to having all the times in the heavyweight division. After this fight, we could see more championship welterweight fights in the future, however right now we have one happening that’ll unify two world titles together!
Errol Spence Jr is currently unbeaten and seems to be unbeatable. He’s had a very successful career already and looks to try and unify the division very soon against Shawn Potter. Errol Spence has gone up against former world title holders and great fighters that he has beaten via unanimous decisions and KO! For example, Mikey Garcia was unbeaten in 39 fights, Errol Spence beat him on points with almost all three judges scoring the bout 120-108! He could be one of the best welterweights in the division, other than Crawford. Shawn Potter will have to try something amazing if he is wanting to beat Errol Spence Jr because he seems to be in top form and only getting better each fight.
Shawn Potter is currently the WBC world welterweight champion with a great record and could be the man to beat Errol Spence Jr. He has had some great fights with great fighters, however lost in two of the bouts, once against Kell Brook in 2014 and once against Keith Thurman in 2016! We could see an upset however, Errol Spence Jr is the current favourite to win, however we have seen great fighters lose to underdogs this year already… Shawn Potter could do the same as other fighters and cause an upset! This bout will be on the 28th September 2019 at the Staples Center, Los Angeles!
