Brief History of Gennady Golovkin!

GGG is one of the best boxers in the world, this middleweight boxer has achieved so much and could be on his way out after a couple more fights. After signing a contract with DAZN, we could be seeing a lot more fights from the 36-year-old. He could be considered as the best Middleweight boxer in the world, since Canelo has gone up to the super middleweight division. From Amateur to Professional, he has shown us what he can do. GGG has beaten some of the best fighters and some of the best upcoming fighters in his division, however he couldn’t beat one man: Canelo! Will GGG still be one of the best fighters in a few years? Or will he lose his touch?

Gennady Golovkin was born on the 8th April 1982; however, his real name is Геннадий Геннадьевич Головкин. His was born and raised in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. He started his boxing journey at the age of 8 with his two little brothers, since this day he wanted to become a fighter. From 8-year-old amateur boxer, to one of the best fighters in the middleweight division, at the age of 36! GGG has made a name for himself and he could still be fighting for a few more years. This career was only achievable from hard work and dedication.

Starting his Professional boxing career in 2006, when he fought Gabor Balogh. Gabor only won one fight at this point and lost 22! GGG knocked him out in the first round with 1 minute 26 seconds left of the round! After 16 bouts, 16 wins, he went for the vacant WBO Inter-middleweight title. He was up against John Anderson Carvalho! 12 rounds of boxing could have happened, but GGG knocked him out in the second round! He went on to fight for all the major titles and got the IBO, IBF, WBO and WBC championships, however he went up against Saul Alvarez! He drew the first bout over spilt decision but lost the second one unfortunately!

GGG v Canelo was the highly anticipated fight of the century. Two world class fighters going head to head. The first fight was on the 16th September 2017. Ended as a draw, with all three referees having different opinions! GGG decided to fight Vanes Martirosyan before fighting Canelo again. This could have been the decision he regrets, since when Canelo went up against GGG again, Canelo won! GGG has won 38 fights with 34 coming by way of knockout, lost 1 and drew 1. He could still be the best fighter in the middleweight division, however Canelo has proven how good he really is! Will GGG go down in history?
