The 55-year-old fighter was set to return to the ring very soon, however now he has called it off! Nigel Benn was the 55-year-old man that was meant to return to the ring in a middleweight bout and has now announced that he won’t be returning to the ring due to an injury with his shoulder! This will now be postponed for when Benn’s has fully recovered from his injury. He suffered this injury from a training session and now has to wait for his infamous return to the ring!
“There was no way I was going to con British fight fans, who have been so good to me, by fighting when I’m not 100 percent fit, I never stopped training since the day I retired, and I’ve never felt fitter in my life. I have been dreaming of a one-off fight for years, and I’m heartbroken I have had to call it off. Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise. I’m now going to forget about ever fighting again.” Benn told The Sun. This would have been his first fight since 1996 and now he may have to wait a bit longer to see his return.
Benn has been in 48 fights in his career and has won 42 fights with 35 via the way of KO, lost 5 and drew 1! He was a former middleweight and super middleweight titlist and now has a chance at his great return however we will be needing to wait for his return to come. If he does make his return this year, will he end up winning his fight and show age is just a number when fighting?
