The four humours

Thought out medicine though history the Greeks came up with the four humours and these were, Blood, Black Bile, Yellow Bile and Phlegm. These were the four substances that were supposedly in our body and if we back ill we had too much of one of the four.

The most common was that we had too much blood in our body, so doctors used a method called leaching which was where doctors applied leaches to their patient body to remove the blood. However if you weren’t wealthy enough to afford a doctor you would have to go to people like barbers, who would preform things such as surgery and other medical thing, but these were very risky as it added chance of infection from the surgical instrument they used was never cleaned after the last patients, lots of people died due to these methods.
