Zimbabwe: Military action deemed legal

An independent inquiry not surprisingly found that the military used excessive force in quelling disturbances during the recent elections. Six people were killed when soldiers opened fire on fleeing protesters. However more surprising was the decision by the commission that the deployment of the military was legal. Given the supposedly independent commission was set up by the new President Emmerson Mnangagwa it looks more like a damage limitation exercise than a quest for justice.
